Do you enjoy going to the dentist?
It’s not very often you read a tweet or Facebook post, “At the dentist, so excited to get a filling”. A study found that 17% of Irish people are anxious about going to the dentist, 60% are afraid it’s going to hurt.
Who can blame them for that? Sitting in a chair, powerless, in pain, loud noises and the needles, need I say more!!
I, for one, do not enjoy my trip to the dentist. Especially the waiting game, sitting in the waiting room next to people with swelled up jaws and cotton rolls sticking out of their mouth with embarrassed faces, hoping that the saliva that has been dangling from the side of their lip is unnoticeable.
Then every so often you hear a drilling noise and wonder whether it would be acceptable for a grown woman to get up and run out the door with fear.
But, then you see those magazines and leaflets in front of you with images of what your teeth will look like if you don’t take care of them…and decide to stay put!
Maybe this is just my experience, but I’m sure there are many like me.
