What is my Policy Excess?

Your policy excess is the amount of money which you are required to contribute towards any claim.

For Car Insurance Customers

Your policy excess amount will depend on the level of cover chosen.

The excess is €300 for our Comprehensive and Third Party, Fire & Theft policies.

We no longer offer Comprehensive Lite or Third Party, Fire & Theft Lite policies however, if you have this level of cover your policy excess would be €450.

Note: There is no excess on windscreen or Keycare claims.

For Home Insurance Customers

Our minimum household excess is €250, however you can choose to have a higher excess for a discounted premium. The options are:

  • €250
  • €500
  • €1,000

Certain sections of the policy booklet have a different excess than the amount noted on your policy schedule. For full details, please refer to your policy pack which we issued to you when you purchased or renewed your policy. Our current policy booklet can be found  here.

Note: There is no excess for Home Rescue claims.

For Travel Insurance Customers

The excess on your Travel Insurance policy will depend on the type of claim you are making. Details of the excess amount applicable can be found in your policy pack which we issued to you when you purchased or renewed your policy. Our current policy booklet can be found  here.

For Pet Insurance Customers

The excess on your Pet Insurance policy is €69 for accident and illness claims. There are some sections of the policy that will have an additional 15% co-payment once your pet reaches 8 years of age. The excess for a Public Liability Claim is €250
