The Claims Process

Step 1 - Report Your Claim

What You Do:

  1. Call us immediately and we can get the process started straight away, even if you don't have all of the information available you should still report the incident to us.

What will I be asked for?

  • Your relevant personal details
  • What happened
  • Location of accident
  • Details of any third party’s involved in the incident –name, contact number and vehicle details
  • Details of any passengers or injuries in your or the third party’s car
  • Details of damage to the vehicles involved
  • Details of any witnesses to the incident
  • Whether the Gardai were involved and details of same

You will receive a post claims registration letter by post or email. You may also receive an accident report form and you may receive a request for copy of your driver’s licence. If so it’s important to complete this form and return along with a copy of your driver’s licence (if requested) as soon as possible.

What We Do:

  1. We will aim to take the stress of the situation away from you. Your claims representative will record the details of the claim and explain your cover. A claims letter, accident report form and request for copy of your driving licence will be issued.
  2. Your claims representative will advise of our Recommended Repairers and the benefits of using our network. If you choose to use our Recommended Repairer, we will put you in direct contact with the Recommended Repairer so that they can look after you as soon as possible.
  3. We will appoint an engineer to assess the damage to your vehicle and we will give you the contact details for the engineer.

Step 2 – Damage Is Evaluated

What You Do:

  1. Arrange to have your vehicle taken to the chosen repairer to get a repair estimate. If you chose to use our Recommended Repairer they will work with you regarding suitable arrangements. The engineer will contact you or your garage to arrange inspection of your vehicle.

What We Do:

  1. The appointed engineer will assess the damage to your vehicle.
     
  2. On receipt of the engineers report you will be advised of the findings and we will agree the next steps with you.
  3. If your car is repairable we will issue you confirmation of the agreed repair figures.

*In the event your vehicle is not repairable, you will be contacted to agree a pre accident value on the vehicle. The basis on which this is calculated will be discussed with you.

Step 3 - Damage Is Repaired

What You Do:

1. On confirmation of policy cover and agreement of repair costs you can arrange to have your vehicle repaired. Your repairer will then advise you when your vehicle will be ready for collection..

What We Do:

1. When repairs are completed your repairer will send the final account to the engineer for review.

Step 4 - Your Settlement

What You Do:

1. If you would like us to pay the garage directly you should sign an Authority to Pay form, which will enable us to do so.

What We Do:

  1. When we receive the final account**, subject to policy cover being in order, we will arrange for payment to be made according to your instructions.
     
  2. We will send you a letter confirming payment has been made.

 

Step 5 - Your Claim Is Closed

What You Do:

1. You will receive a letter or email outlining all payments issued in relation to your claim.

What We Do:

1. Once all payments are made we will close your claim. Please note that the settlement of this claim may affect you future Motor Insurance Premium. This will depend on the extent, if any, of your No Claims Discount Protection. Details can be found within your policy booklet.
