Corporate & Social Responsibility

123.ie is committed to being a responsible member of the communities in which we live and to making a positive contribution to the world in which we work. We want to give back. For 123.ie, that means a real dedication to supporting charitable organisations and to protecting our environment, through raising awareness, fund-raising and sensible corporate policies.

Of course, we are also determined to be an exceptional employer, to make this a great place in which to work so that our team members feel proud of 123.ie and really enjoy working here.

RSA Insurance companies all around the world are managed in a responsible and ethical manner and follow a strong, clear group-wide corporate responsibility strategy. To find out more about RSA's group strategy click here

123.ie is one of those companies.

So how do we demonstrate those commitments in our day-to-day working life? Well, you can see our strategy at work in three key areas:

  1. Charitable aid

  2. Environmental respect

  3. Attracting and retaining talent

Charitable Aid

Our vision is to be prepared to make the difference.  We strive to always make a difference for our customers, each other, and our communities.  Our charity of choice, Barnardos, works for and with vulnerable children to make a difference in their lives – through the service it provides, by supporting parents, and by challenging society where it fails our children.

We are honoured to support the work of Barnardos in Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Environmental Respect

123.ie is determined to minimise the impact we have on our natural environment. As with all RSA Insurance companies, we measure and report our CO2 emissions, improve energy efficiency, waste disposal, travel impacts and resource use in our building and daily operations. From choosing more efficient technology to encouraging our suppliers to reduce their carbon footprints, we strive to make improvements every quarter of every year.

With that commitment to protecting our physical environment in mind, we put a lot of thought into designing our head office in Dundrum, Dublin 16. For example, it has helped to reduce our CO2 emissions by up to 30% compared to a normal office building.

Presence detectors and daylight sensors control the general lighting and reduce associated energy consumption by 20%. “Chilled beams" help with cooling instead of traditional fan coil units and low usage water fittings reduce water consumption.

Attracting and Retaining Talent

This is a unified team and a great place to work. We have seen that when everyone is happy, motivated and rewarded, success comes naturally. That’s why we concentrate so hard on attracting, developing and retaining the best people in the business. As you’d expect, we promote a positive, challenging, high performance culture in which people are encouraged to use their initiative, come up with bright ideas, do the right thing and take exceptional care of our customers.

Our Wellbeing Policy is a well thought out way of maintaining a working environment that promotes the health and wellbeing of the entire team, both physically and psychologically.

We also have an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) - available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This is designed to give our staff, their families and anyone reliant on them for emotional support, with confidential services for addressing emotional, legal, financial or other issues that are worrying them.

The EAP provides confidential telephone and face to face counselling service through VHI Corporate Solutions and their experienced, professional counsellors and advisors can offer you expert information, counselling and support to help you prepare for, and cope successfully with whatever is causing anxiety and pressure.
