Recently, we had the pleasure of visiting the esteemed Leevale Athletics Club in Cork, and the experience left us inspired.
Leevale Athletics Club, with its rich history and vibrant community, stands as a beacon of athletic prowess in Ireland. The club has been nurturing talent since its founding in 1967, producing athletes who have achieved at a national and international level. Coaches, athletes, and volunteers work in harmony, fostering an environment where everyone is encouraged to push their limits and strive for better. We were fortunate to witness a training session and meet some of the club’s dedicated athletes. Their stories are a testament to the power of perseverance and the relentless pursuit of improvement. Whether it was a young sprinter perfecting their start or a seasoned distance runner pushing through the final lap of a gruelling workout, the determination on display was nothing short of inspiring.
As we continue our Club Series, we are more committed than ever to championing the cause of athletics in Ireland. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Leevale Athletics Club for welcoming us and allowing us to witness the incredible work they do. To the athletes, coaches, and everyone involved – thank you for reminding us of the power of sport to bring out the best in all of us. Together, we are building a stronger, more vibrant athletic community in Ireland.
We spoke with Derek Neff who explained that their indoor facilities allow the volunteers to coach the kids who perform in the technical games such as pole vault, high jump, and throws. He also took us through the club’s history and touched on some of Leevale’s well known names such as Donnie Walsh, Marcus O’Sullivan, Louise Shannon and our very own brand ambassador Reece Ademola.
