How do I cancel my policy?

Cancelling your policy is simple, but the process depends on your policy type. Below are the cancellation terms based on the latest policy details​.

Car Insurance

Your policy includes a 14-day cooling-off period, during which you can choose to withdraw from the policy. If you withdraw within this period and no cover has been used (including no claims or incidents), the policy will be treated as if it never existed and your premium will be refunded in full.

Please note that the cooling-off period no longer applies once cover has been used. If you have used the policy and then decide to cancel, we will retain time on cover premium for the period during which cover was provided and the €55 fixed expense charge from any refund due.

If you cancel after the first 14 days of your policy, a €55 cancellation fee will apply in addition to charges for the time you were insured and the €55 fixed expense cost. For customers paying by Direct Debit, any initial service charge is also non-refundable.

Home Insurance

Young Drivers (123GO) Insurance

Your policy includes a 14-day cooling-off period, during which you can choose to withdraw from the policy. If you withdraw within this period and no cover has been used (including no claims or incidents), the policy will be treated as if it never existed and your premium will be refunded in full.

Please note that the cooling-off period no longer applies once cover has been used. If you have used the policy and then decide to cancel, we will retain time on cover premium for the period during which cover was provided and the €100 fixed expense charge from any refund due.

If you cancel after the first 14 days of your policy, a €55 cancellation fee will apply in addition to charges for the time you were insured and the €100 fixed expense cost. For customers paying by Direct Debit, any initial service charge is also non-refundable.

Landlord Insurance

Cancellations within 14 days qualify for a full refund if no claims were made.

After this, a €25 cancellation fee applies, along with the cost of cover up to the cancellation date.

Health Insurance

If you cancel within 14 days, you’ll receive a full refund unless a claim has been made, in which case outpatient costs will be deducted, and charges for inpatient care may apply.

After 14 days, a mid-term cancellation charge applies, including a €25 administration fee and any unpaid government levy.

Travel Insurance

You can cancel within 14 days for a full refund, as long as your trip hasn’t started and no claims have been made. After 14 days, no refunds are available.

Van Insurance

If cancelled within 14 days, you’ll only pay for the days covered, and a full refund applies if no claims were made.

After 14 days, a €55 cancellation fee applies, plus cover costs up to the cancellation date.

To cancel, you must return your Certificate of Insurance and Insurance Disc. Call 01 241 8585 or email info@123.ie.

Life Insurance

A 30-day cooling-off period applies, during which you can cancel and receive a full refund if no claims were made.

After 30 days, the policy can be cancelled at any time, but no refund is provided for the unused premium period.

To cancel, call 01 704 1010 or email customerservice@irishlife.ie.
